Teaching Style and Philosophy
I enjoy teaching all ages and levels of students. I also love helping them build confidence in their ability to achieve, both academically and socially. I have a comprehensive method of teaching, founded in classical and contemporary music and integrated with music theory.
Students have different needs and I choose material or method books that cater to each student's age, personality, and visual/auditory/kinesthetic learning style.
To inspire my students, I keep a mix of music styles and genres in their repertoire, for example, classical, boogie woogie, Latin, and Pop. Many of my students love to write their own pieces, so I incorporate improvisation and composition into their lessons.
I feel grateful that I have a career I love. The quotation that has inspired me the most is from Sir Thomas Beecham, "The function of music is to release us from the tyranny of conscious thought."
